Event categories are the main manner by which individual events are classified.
When creating an event, you must specify at least one category that describes what kind of event it is. This may mean defining it as a “Lecture” or a “Deadline”, or even specifying that it is “Open to the Public”.
The LiveWhale calendar allows visitors to your site to filter events by category. You may also wish to only display events of a certain category on your web pages.
Categories, which are globally shared and configured by administrators, are broader classifications than tags, which can be created both as global or group-specific.
