Persianate Selves: Memories of Place and Origin Before Nationalism

4:00pm EST November 10

Please join the Iranian Studies Initiative (ISI) in welcoming Mana Kia (Columbia University) as she discusses her new book, Persianate Selves, in conversation with Catherine Ambler (Columbia University) and Andrew McLaren (Columbia University). Some of the central questions for the book talk will examine how senses of place, origin, collective belonging, and selfhood were part of a cosmopolitan sphere that crossed political boundaries and regions. Kia will also discuss how she came to focus on particular questions, sources, and methods in her exploration of premodern Persianate culture.

This event is free, but registration is required:
